Default Afraid to put hood deflector on - please help!

I just bought a 2012 DD SXT. While I was picking it up, I picked up the Mopar chrome deflector from the parts department. I notice it comes with the anti-abrasion pads and hood clips, rather than screwing it on to the hood. Does this type eventually scratch or mar the hood, even with the tape (or if it slips past the tape). Can it go through a car wash?

I'm having second thoughts about puting one on.

Thats one reason why I never put a deflector on. Kind of like an over the rail bedliner on a truck when it moves. But on a truck bed who really cares?

I brought back the Mopar Deflector. Anyone got any reccomendations for a screw on deflector that doesn't require drilling?
