Default 3M protection opinion

Going to pick up my brand new Durango tonight and I have an appointment to get the 3M protection put on tomorrow.

Question for everyone: is it worth getting the 3M tape put on the plastic fender? It costs I think about $150. They said it protects the paint on the fender. What do folks think. Is it worth it?

Thanks

Depends on what they are covering for that $150... the film definately works but can look a lil odd on certain colors. My friend had it on his white bmw and the seams stood out worse than if his front end was chipped up!

I agree white is a NO. My wife just bought a new car (white) and the finance guy told us not to. It will discolor after time and white will show it more

Here is a link to mine, done right it is VERY hard to see. Yes the edges get dirty, you need to clean them with a Q tip and some alcohol and they will become invisible again. Had it on my last four vehicles, also put behind door handles, mirrors, and door sills. Stuff is priceless to me!

I think if it completely covers whatever it is that you want protected then it has a nice look without any lines, but as soon as you only partially cover something, i.e. the hood, fenders, etc. then you see the line which is a big no go for me. If I end up getting chips I would rather pay to get it repainted 4 or 5 years down the road at nearly the same cost as covering it all.
