Default 2012 R/T AWD MPG and Volant CAI

So today I took my wife and 2 year old daughter to the airport. Was about 140 miles on the freeway. Prior to this, I was doing a mix of city (crowded army post) and highway driving. Was averaging around 16 MPG. Me (most of the time) and my wife are very conservative drivers. Anyway, here's a breakdown of today.

Starting Point: Fort Bragg, NC
Destination: Charlotte Airport, SC
Temperature: 65 F
Speed: 60-80 MPH Last hour was only 60-65
A/C: Just the fan
MPG at end: 22.7

Was one of the most enjoyable 6 hours in a vehicle I've ever had. I did my best to drive sensibly with fuel economy in mind. The D cruises almost too well. Have to keep an eye on that speedometer. Noticed that it can cruise with ease up to around 78-80 MPH. Anything after that seems like I'm pushing the motor just a bit. Can get to 80 without even knowing or putting any tension on the gas.

I arrived home to a new Volant CAI sitting in front of my door. Installed. Very easy. Vehicle seems to respond much better. Before, when I was at stand still, and slammed on the gas, it seemed like the vehicle was just a bit sluggish. Now it kicks me back a bit and goes. Sounds more throaty also.

In a month I'm gonna pick up my family from the same airport. I'll post temperature and MPG again afterward, now that the Volant is installed.

Nice mpg's .. I'm very happy with my volant but my truck just see's stop and go around town driving so I can't attest to the highway mpg's as I'm only seeing 13-14mpg's

Yeah...not a very good vehicle for stop and go. I don't have any regrets though. Best looking SUV IMO, with great interior and a respectable sound from the Hemi. Also a very sound and smooth ride. I wasn't a fan of Dodge before this purchase, to be honest, but man me and my wife fell in love with the Durango instantly. Definitely going to be shopping Dodge more in the years to come.

I have to agree. Before I got my wife the Durango RT I was a all GM/Chev man. I wanted a Tahoe but that chasi was to dated. I love the new ride for her. When I'm looking for a new truck I will consider dodge now. Especially if they get that 8 speed going smooth.
