2012 With Musty smell
Anyone else have a musty smell with the AC going?
It has that smell when in auto mode when it reaches the desired temp it reduces the cold air and you can smell it. Also if you turn off the AC and just use vents you can smell it. Mentioned it at the dealer, when i was there for an oil change and tey said they all do that. WTF! They said go to Autozone and you can buy some stuff to spray in. Last time going to that dealer. Thoughs anyone?
1. Always use outside air.
2. I live in AZ, air is dry by nature.
3. Has done it since the first time I use the AC.
2. 4.8K miles on it.
Has dual air.

I have a 2012 also, and have been running A/C constant (Live in Florida). My thoughts are maybe the A/C drain line was never installed correctly and the water is in the cabin? Its probably just a little bit since its so new, that's why you smell it after it gets to temp.
Something sounds very wrong. Mine runs constant and smells clean and brand new like it should. Press the dealer!

Yep, pretty much all cars do that. Even my coworkers new Escalade does it. One thing you can do to prevent it and correct it is to run full heat on high through all the vents (windshield, dash, feet…) for a minute to warm the ducts just before shutting down. When you turn the A/C off with the vehicle the ducts are about 35deg F; without air blowing through the ducts ambient air will fill them and moisture in that air will condense on the cold duct walls giving you a musty odor on next startup.
Also, you’d be surprised how much moisture you can pull from desert air.

Gibson74 called it...I had the exact same problem on my 2000 Monte SS...(ordered my r/t on Monday!) ...long story short...I eventually found the source of the leak: the drain plug that puts the condensation into the engine area from the cabin fell off...thus the air pressure from the engine area was too strong for the water to drip out...so a 50 cent plastic elbow caused hundreds of dollars in repairs to carpet...it took me many MANY false fixes before I realized it was a measly plastic elbow ...I won't miss my Chevy ...but she sure is fast!
