Default Headrest Monitors

Has anyone put headrest monitors in the front to seats(the active head rests) I am pondering putting them in for viewing in the second row for my daughter and wonder if anyone has done it and how was it working around the air bag.

Also, if you have any finished pictures, I would really appreciate it.
Also, FWIW, I have the Crew w/leather and Nav.

Definately cumbersome, if your going that route I read somewhere about a company making ipad mounts for the headrests. Might be something to consider.

We used to have a drop down in our old car and my wife doesn't want to go that route again. It made really bad blind spots.

That is a little bulky, I was kind of hoping to find one integrated in the stock headrests, or into replacement headrests.

My wife and I have been talking about doing this too, although I like the idea of always having the screen with us and not having to set it up when we get in the car.

Thanks for the help, I am still open for suggestions though!

I agree about wires running all over the place, maybe u can hardwire them and run all the wires through the back of the seats and simply leave enuff wire to plug them in while in use!

The airbags in the seats are not the issue. i have been installing them in vehicles with the airbags in the seats or years. Its the active restraint part. unfortunately any of the manu's doing them for the active headrest are an "add-on" like shown in that pic.

i havent taken mine apart yet, i was wondering if one can custom mold some monitors into the plastic cover on the back of the headrest.

I'm thinking Ipads are the way to go regarding video setup in a car. There's also a product that slides an ipad into a roof mount flip-down deal.

My idea is to get an ipad, a CHR550 lockpick, the overhead mount, and a wifi 500GB hard drive. Run power and ipad cable from lockpick to ipad to feed to the headunit. (The mount has an included wire that connects from the ipad to the FM transmitter but will abandon that for the cable running to the lockpick).

I then have the hard drive to store a massive movie/tv show collection and can get a bluetooth remote control to finish it off.

Sounds like a plan and a nice set up!
