Left cylinder head replaced. They can't determine what is wrong electrically so they reset the computer.

Talking with management now about trading it back in for a V8.

Left the dealership after the repair, after about 30 miles the engine started missing really bad like the timing was off. Hoping that it was just the engine computer calibrating, as the problem seemed to go away once I was on the gas again. Has been running flawlessly all day. MPGs back up, ECO is back and idling is perfect. I'll post back if we have more trouble.

Got a letter yesterday saying that the warranty on the Left cylinder head is extended to 150,000 miles.

This would be the one that they replaced. I guess that you can read that either way: Either they are so confident that it won't fail, that they say that they will pay for it up to 150,000 miles.

Or you can read it that they are pretty sure they have it fixed, but maybe not but if it does fail, they will still fix it.

Add me to the list of owners with the pentastar cylinder head issue... my CEL came on around 40,000 miles during a leisurely family trip. 2012 Crew AWD. No performance issues at all, except perhaps MPG has been down a little. Light came on, took it in to be scanned by the dealer, and they gave me a loaner and said they would need to keep it a few days.

My question to those of you who have had the left head replaced: were there any complications after the head replacement?

Nope. Other than the greasy handprints on the white paint.

Both head has been replace under warranty for the same issue... But the 240000km warranty is only for the left head...

Anyway, sold the van last week and i'll use my Cummins since it's cheaper on fuel and gets better mpg.

Got it back yesterday with not only the head replaced, but also the visor and brake booster recalls done. Maybe it's in my head, but it feels quicker now too.

100 miles post-op and so far so good. MPG is also back up by about 4mpg.

Whoa! I came back to the forum because another issue has come up with my Durango and I just realized I never updated this thread. Anyway, my Durango was repaired promptly, and has been running great, I now have about 35k on it(5 since the repair) and all seems well with the engine.
