v6 vs v8
My thanks to all of you. Great feedback, and it helped cement what I saw in the other threads. Most of the time it is my daughter and myself. I coach her soccer team so I always have sports gear in the back and sometimes half a team as well. However a v8 is a want not a must have.
I drove a v6 and v8 Citadel back to back. That's a pretty stout v6.... I don't think I'd notice a difference in most normal driving situations. The stock exhaust also doesn't really let the v8 be heard.
I think I'm going to get the v6 and see what living with that is like. I'm quite intrigued to see what a new, high efficiency v6 can do. If I really don't like it then I can wait a while and trade up for a 8 speed v8...
I also saw a thread on here with a v6 with a Borla. Hmm.....
I'll post a picture of the new baby when I get it. It will be stock to start with... but thanks for the inspiration!

Scott, don't bet or hold your breath on that replacement engine. The troubles are many and nearly always limited to self-tuner folks that can tinker constantly sometimes for years to get it right.
Plus the costs are often so high, you can buy a replacement vehicle with exactly what you want, then sell what you had and get it all for less than having to rebuilt it that way with the replacement motor.
Sux, but truth.

I do agree with jeffb100 regarding the sound and smoothness of the V8. The main reason I went for the V6 was because I had a second gen with 4.7 V8 which had 280hp and was getting 12 to a gallon around neighborhood and most times I was only driving myself. The new V6 has 290hp and gets 16 mpg around neighborhood. But I do wish I had bragging rights for the "HEMI" but also love my V6. The Durango is just a joy to drive with either engine. Vehicle handles well on highway and ride is pretty quiet and very comfortable. Being 6'2'' tall it sure beats these new small boxes on the road, after a long trip I can get out of my vehicle without being crippled.
