Default v6 vs v8

Brand new member. I want to get a Citadel and I'm trying to decide between the v6 and the v8. (I checked old threads and didn't see this particular question.) Logic says get the new, high efficiency v6 for mileage with decent performance. My heart says get the v8 because nothing sounds like a v8, one day they will be gone in new vehicles and.... it's a v8. I'm trading in a LR3 HSE v8. I loved that car but didn't love 12 mpg, although I lived with it. It looks like 13.5/14 mpg city for the v8 versus 16/17 for the v6. I'd love feedback about your experience with the performance/mileage tradeoff.

I personally think the choice of a V6 Or V8 depends more on what you intend to use the vehicle for. I have the V6 because it is primarily used to move four people around comfortably and occasional home improvement store trips. For these reasons I went with the V6. But I must agree that the sound of the V8 can give me a chubby. :]

I have a v6 plenty of power, i would say towing heavy load v8, a citadel is more of a plush ride, if you want speed get an rt with v8, if you like the sound of a v8 get something like magnaflo dual exhaust, i think its what im going to get to have that v8 sound. My 2 cents. 😁

If you have a second car, Id say go for the V8. The price difference is not much and you will love having the V8 power in the instances you need it. Towing, bragging to your buddies, yadda yadda. But if its your primary vehicle and you are concerned abut gas prices, the 6 cyl is a good buy as well.

In the long scheme of things, you are probably going to save about a $1000 in gas every 4-5 years at the current prices.

I have a HEMI and it usually gives me around 20mpg on the highway. I hit 8k miles yesterday and it will be one year old next month.

I was going to go for the V-6 but couldn't get the color my wife wanted, (bright red), so I had to go with the Hemi in the R/T. I would have been completely satisfied with the V-6 but I have to admit that the Hemi is great, both in power and sound.

We would probably be better off with V6, since my wife drives mostly and could use a couple MPGs better. . We both liked the styling of R/T better, so of course got the hemi.

I will definitely appreciate the V8 when pulling loaded trailer over mountains. . That only happens a couple times a year though. (don't take the Jeeps out to play as much as we used to)
.

Happy With the Hemi but even it is a bit sluggish imo, havent driven a V6 to attest to its prowess but their beautiful trucks so you need to decide on what best suits your needs!
