Default HEMI throws off alot of HEAT...

Anybody else agree with me on this one? I just feel the engine compartment does not have the best ventilation for releasing engine heat. Not sure if its because the wheel wells are enclosed now or what but the heat from the under carriage can burn your skin standing next to it, as my wife said standing next to passenger side doors..I actually pop my hood open when I park it in the garage just to let the engine cool faster as we do our police cars in between tour changes in the summer.

Haven't noticed anything too extreme with mine but I generally take short trips. The truck definately seems to get warmed up quick..

Yup. It was definitely one of my main concerns when purchasing mainly because of this video.

I still bought it and definitely do notice the heat underneath that hood. I almost have 10k miles on it now and (knock on wood) no issues.

These things are usually caused by some problem rather than just a hot engine.

As for the D's heat, most modern engines are crammed in smaller and smaller spaces with lots more stuff around them, so they feel hotter. Otherwise the D does not run particularly hotter than many other V8s.

Wow that Durango went up quick in that video. Still gotta say this bad boy throws off a lot of heat, short trips or not. I had a Nissan Armada Le and did not come close to this in engine heat . Yeah bigger truck but I still think the covered wheel wells play a big part. Think how much heat comes out of the wheel well area besides brake heat.

No doubt that design plays a large part in how much heat you feel, But I'm not convinced that the engine itself runs any hotter than any other V8 it's size.
