Anyone buy new maps yet? My unit reminds me every so often that my maps are out of date. It's thoroughly annoying, and I have no intention of giving Garmin $150 for maps when I can buy a unit with lifetime maps for that amount. Can the reminder be turned off?

 

I've never had a warning come up and tell me my maps are out of date. I got it in Jan of this year. Do you know how old yours are or when the newest set of maps came out?

 

My car is a year old and I'm assuming the maps are too. The message says the maps are "more than" a year old. I'm not sure when the latest maps came out, but I'd be reluctant to buy them anyway since there are brand new highways in my area that might not even be on the new maps yet.

 

I bought my D on Apr 2011 and so far I have not seen any notification on my GPS unit that my maps are old/dated.

 

Which GPS unit do you have? I have the Garmin 430 unit.

I've got the 730N unit as well and have had it since April 2011 and I don't get any messages like that.

 

I have the 430N and got my D at the end of June last year. I see the maps need updating notification every once in a while. However, I assume it will do that every year. I don't plan to update them yearly, but maybe every 2 years or so. Roads don't change that ofter or quickly.

Keep in mind that the date of the maps is reflective of Garmin's updates, not Dodge. So, though my D is 1 year old, my maps are some amount older.
