Damn this 5.7L is a dog off the line...
I know I've read similar threads on the same subject but I've been avoiding hammering it off the line until I got some miles on her (400 now).
I feel like I'm driving a golf cart until it hits 4000 rpm
My R/T either has massive torque control built into the programming (come on tuner!) or it really needs a higher stall converter - or both. The extra 1000 lbs over a Charger or Challenger probably doesn't help much either.
I'm putting a catback and intake on next week but I know that won't even begin to fix this. At least she'll sound fast
I guess I bought it for towing anyways. She does OK passing when the rpms are up but off the line I think I could outrun her for about 60'
I tried the traction control button but honestly there is nothing to control with the lack of power off the line
BTW this is my first SUV and besides the gas mileage I love it!

the problem is tall gears. Because of mandated MPG ratings they kick up the diff gears to improve highway MPG. It makes the truck (all of the durango's) kind of slugs when it comes to leaving the line.
My 2005 Hemi D2 was much stronger than my 2012 Hemi D3 off the line, and really all through the range. I've had my Hemi D3 for a month now, and was starting to think it wasn't so bad after all - then drove my wife's 2007 Hemi AWD Charger again yesterday. I have to say that my 2012 D3 handles and rides more like the Charger than the 2005 Durango, but driving the Charger sure made the Durango weight penalty obvious.

It gets worse. The default ratio on the 2012 Citadel and Crew - even with the towing package - is 3.09, though you can order them with 3.45. SXT is 3.09 only. R/T is 3.45 only.
