Default Black Plastic Trim on the Citadel?

Hi all,

My wife just traded in her 05 Outback Sedan for a 2012 Citadel in Deep Molten Red. I didn't notice it until I came here to do some research on the Hill Start Assist and Forward Collision Warning, but why in the heck would Dodge put paint matched trim on the R/T and not on the Citadel? I was hoping I might just be able to order the trim from the dealer already painted, but it doesn't look like the R/T was available in Deep Molten Red. I hate waxing the car and getting wax on the plastic trim. It always happens and is a pain to get off. Plus it just looks so much better when the trim matches.

Anybody with a Citadel annoyed enough by this to get the trim painted?

Thanks,
Dave

the Heat has the painted fender trim as well...but I dont think it came in deep molten red. You could buy the trim pieces and have them painted.

I have a good friend that bought a 2012 citadel and took it to the paint shop right from the dealer. He said it cost him about 500, but he knew the guy that owned the paint shop. I have no pictures though. If I had an option I would only paint the side skirt and rear bumper, just because the front bumper takes so much beating from rocks and debri.

$500 isn't terrible, I guess I'll have to call around.

Thanks,
Dave

My wife's 2011 black Jeep Grand Cherokee has the same unpainted trim around the wheel wells, as I do on mine. Painting it would concern me regarding rock ships.

Our Durango is strictly going to be an urban hauler and will never see off road. Also I don't know how it would be any different than the R/T's trim as it comes from the factory painted.

But I guess if you were planning on doing some off road stuff you might see more rock chips with the trim painted.

I was also thinking about using Black Plasti-Dip too, but I've never messed with the stuff to know A. how it looks and B. if it wax will come off of it easily.
