Default HID plug and play

Hi all,
If I where to buy oem hid headlights, could i just install them on my non hid crew or it requires alot more than just that.

I think you have to wire the harness on the headlights to your cars wiring. Scott did it. He should be chiming in soon!

You might want to explore H11 to H9 bulbs conversion. It is an easy and inexpensive mod that results on more and brighter light without the glare that HID would produce when installed on Halogen reflectors.

Yes you can and there is a good write up on this site also of adding the stock HID housings with the wiring that is involved. It is minimal wiring if you are used to working on your own vehicle.

I swapped my H11 low beam bulbs with H9 Philips from Amazon for $7 each. H9 bulbs are brighter with no glare. I’m very happy with this mod. I didn’t go with HID because HID on reflectors is useless in my opinion.

I’ve started with swapping the passenger side headlight for comparison purposes. Here are the pictures with passenger side with H9 and driver side with stock H11.
