Default parts

My dealership provides grat service, but the parts department is weak! First was a heated debate regarding mudflaps on the D. They didn't want to sell me the front ones. I did it anyway and they fit. Today I asked for the Mopar cold air intake. They told me I had to get a K&N because Mopar doesn't make one. This led to an arguement, where I told them I have seen it, have the part number at home. They were stumped. I just think if you work in this fielld you should be up on the parts and be an enthusiast.

Yeah, not a fan of them and service departments. When I bought mine part of the deal was to have the tow hitch and wire harness installed. The dealer said that the service department would have to replace the rear bumper and all this other stuff, even after I showed them the instructions from Mopar that showed how to install it with the existing bumper. Since the agreement didn't state aftermarket or OEM, they wouldn't do the OEM type. After going back and forth they did agree to me doing it (since they swore it couldn't be done and would look horrible if I did it) and reimbursing me the cost. So a week and a half later I was back with my receipts for $317 (parts and activation of the harness by the dealer). It was cheaper than what they were going to spend on the aftermarket parts/installation and when the dealer saw it the first thing he said was it looked like factory... and that he was very upset with the service/parts department since they said it couldn't be done, and that they had lost a potential customer.

My parts guy is legit. I knew the Durango had a mopar intake, but forgot the number at home, he knew what it was and had it the next day. Also was able to find the parts number to change the grill and facia to make my crew look more like an R/T(didn't end up getting it)

Probably cheaper online anyhow but I wouldn't give them the business at this point.

Problem with parts guys at dealers is that if the part doesn't come up under your VIN, they don't know nothing!

The best bet for that is to get the VIN from a vehicle on their lot (like the R/T you gave as an example) and then have them look up the parts list.

The alternative is to get the VIN from someone you know that may have one or one of us.
