Default 2011 Rear Hatch stuck open

Has anyone else had their rear hatch stuck open, I was on vacation and I couldn't latch the hatch closed, the mechanisim was stuck in the locked position. Tried everything, ended up bungee cording the hatch down so I could get home.

Did you attempt to pull the handle, push the rearward rear hatch button, push the overhead rear hatch button and/or activate the FOB's rear hatch button to release the latch?

Reba,

I could find no TSB's or similar complaints on the issue. Please post back up what the fix is once the dealer or repair facility figures it out.

Default Rear Hatch - Durango 2011

I've tired everything, but then my battery went dead over night, even though I turned all interior lights off. I charged the battery and got the Durango to the dealership for my service appointment. They had no issue with the rear hatch. Now I'm wondering if when the battery died if that didn't reset the control module and that was the fix. If this happens again, I'll disconnect the battery and see if that fixes it. Then, I believe that would indicate an electrical problem in my Durango.

Reba,

Is your liftgate power? If you PM me the Vin I can check for any electrical bulletins that may contribute to a battery drain.
