Default Issue after Issue...starting to lose my love for Dodge

Now I have 3800 on the odometer and I am driving 70 on highway and Check Engine Light comes on... I take it to Dodge to scan for codes and they tell me I need a new vapor canister...they of course do not ever have anything in stock so they had to order it and I will have to take it back when it comes in...why are all these parts going bad and breaking before the first oil change is even due...horrible parts and quality control on their part I assume.

list of issues:
remote start ac non existant
both passenger side ac vents needed to be changed as they did not fit well
passenger side window trim (inside that has the felt that sits against window) had to be replaced because all felt peeled off
thermostat housing cracked and leaked all my coolant out
now 3800 miles and C.E.L is on due to vapor canister...

whats next?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have had numerous issues with my Durango as well. Some have been resolved, but others remain. My Durango has been in the shop for approximately 2 weeks of my two month ownership. The scary part is that I haven't experienced any of your problems yet. This causes me some concern that there is possibly more to come. We must have got the units that were built on Friday. Hope that your vehicle is repaired in a timely fashion.

I know your pain. Mine spent almost 3 full weeks of my first months ownership in the shop, then another week the second month! 25 days total before hitting 2000 miles!

Ouch! That is why I always buy used. Someone else has done the shakedown cruise. Thank goodness for CarFax. Good luck and I hope things get resolved.

Carfax only shows incidents that were reported through insurance companies, which most maintenance repairs are not reported to.

I feel your pain...I'm in the same boat.

Here's my list of issues on my Crew with 3400 miles.

-Remote start ac/heat issue (who knows when/if this will get fixed)
-Roof modeling needed replaced (fixed)
-Thermostat housing issue. Lost coolant (fixed)
-Front passenger interior door accent lights didn't work. (fixed)
-Rear shocks clunking sound (replacement on order from dealership)
-Front passenger seat cushion loose (unable to fix - so they say)
-Black push button lock on front door handles very inconsistent when used. It has to be pushed several times before it will lock my doors (not fixed)

Those are just some of my issues off the top of my head.

Vapor canister issues are almost always user created troubles from over filling/max filling the gas tank during fill ups.

Still covered under bumper-to-bumper warranty within the first year as are brakes, rotors, etc.

At least our units look good when they finally get back on the road. I've owned three Dodge products to date(2010 Caravan, 2009 Charger Rt and 2012 Dodge Durango). Out of all of them, the Caravan(the ugliest of course) was the most reliable with the least amount of problems. Actually it had no problems during my ownership. My Charger has been in a revolving door at Dodge with the "can't duplicate" , "no codes", "that's normal" bs. Right... a rough idle that drops to and below 500rpm is normal. What happened to the trouble shooting mechanics that would "listen" to your symptoms and replace parts that were likely the culprit. Now a days it's a no code = no problems mentality at the dealership. Unless Dodge resolves the remainder of my problems I confident the Durango will be the last Dodge I own. I give Dodge credit as they make beautiful looking vehicles. Its too bad the mechanical side doesn't fit the looks.

Frohoss you got that loud clunk too. Do you have the load leveling shocks?

I too noticed this problem. I figured it out though. The problem is when you push the button to lock it, you can't have your fingers on the inside of the handle. I believe this makes the truck think you are trying to unlock it, so it won't lock. So what you have to do is just press the button without grabbing the handle. Ever since I started doing this, it's worked every time.
