It's really not that hard, you have to disengage the electrical connection to the old sensor. The thing that took the longest was trying to drain the washer fluid reservoir from up top, I used one of those fluid siphon pumps from Harbor Frieght, $5.99, that took the longest time. If you do not drain the tank you will take a bath!

I had an issue with my fluid sensor too. I had used the orange Rain-x and when it was about half way empty I added another type, Peak de-icer and cleaner, soon after it was added my "warning you're empty" light came on.
I drove around for a couple days thinking it might just fix itself, it never did. I figured the sensor was bad, so ordered one on eBay for $2. I drained the fluid, replaced the sensor, added back the same fluid, no warning light came on until the next day. So now I am thinking it's not the sensor. Drained the fluid again, took the sensor out, put the old one back in, no warning light until the next day. This time I drained the fluid, trashed it, added normal blue fluid, put the original sensor back in and that was 6 months ago. No warning light since the normal fluid was added.

I think there is something in those de-icer type fluids that coat the sensor keeping it from working properly. I also saw this issue posted in other forums for other vehicles.
