Default Adaptive Cruise/FCW Not working

I have a 2011 R/T with around 11,000 miles on it. About 2 weeks ago, the dash told me the "ACC/FCW Disabled, Radar sensor not available. Service Radar Sensor" (maybe not exact wording...but close). This was intermittent for a week, and it happened once when I was driving by the dealership. I pulled in and had them scan it while the warnings were illuminated. 30 minutes later they tell me I need a new cruise control module and they will order it. Now the lights are illuminated every time we drive the vehicle. I left it at the dealer yesterday to have the sensor replaced, and got a call around 4pm indicating they had to pull the new sensor back out because they could not program it. Anyone else have this problem?

Any service techs on here that can lend some advice? Not sure if it is overly complicated, or if the dealership simply does not have the experience to do this.

Are they replacing the sensor or the module? I know when I had my front sensor replaced the body shop did it and when I got the vehicle back the front sensor ($2000 BTW) on the EVIC said "Plant Mode" It had to be taken to the dealer and caliberated before it would work. So if they replaced the sensor maybe they could not get it out of "Plant Mode." Not sure if this helps but it has been my only exposure with the system.

At first they told me they were replacing the cruise control module. When I took it in yesterday I questioned this, and they advised me they were replacing the radar sensor on the front bumper. they did not indicated what the programming issue was...just said they could not do it. Any idea how the dealer calibrated yours?

They just replaced the sensor on my as it was damaged in the collision, seems a 2 inch ball on the end of a hitch is a bit stonger than the sensor....I am not sure what they did, the auto body shop took it to the dealer and they took care of it. All I know was it just said "Plant Mode" in the EVIC and FCW was illuminated and you could not select Adaptive Cruise, when you tried thats when it would say the sensor was in plant mode. I do know that it took them less than an hour to do it as I had my vehicle back the same day.

Shark,

There was a case on the adaptive cruise control that may pertain to the issue you are having. The dealer should refer to the case below to see if it can help. If not they should contact a Chrysler tech for further assistance. If they cannot get the issue resolved for you then I would suggest a call to the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center at one of the numbers below and they will get a Chrysler tech involved.

800-992-1997 United States
800-465-2001 Canada

Case Number: S1108000163

Release Date: 09/28/2011
Symptom/Vehicle Issue:
Cluster Message “ACC/FCW Unavailable Vehicle System Error”
Discussion:
Check fault codes in all modules prior to ACC system diagnostics. This message is an indication that the system cannot operate; possible failure in another related module. Review codes in TCM, PCM, ESP/ABS etc. prior to ACC system error faults.
Repair:
No ACC system components required. There may be a temporary malfunction that limits ACC functionality. System operation requires that the vehicle be driven above 20mph. Test the operation after an ignition key cycle; making sure the sensor and attachment brackets are secure (brackets are available separately if needed). Review all other module fault codes, repair and clear codes prior to further operation and testing
