well, if you ditch the center console option on the RAM, it does sit 6 ppl. Also, Ram is cheaper than a Durango usually.
Whatever you are going to buy... just avoid the air ride option...

So the salesman couldn't tell me anything other that they usually get info right before it is released. From what I've read it seems the V6 will be getting the eight speed first in May 2013 and the Hemi maybe later down the road. Anyone have any info on that? I'd really like to get the V8 but being able to get a few more mpg with the 8 speed could be worth the wait if it's going to happen. Thanks.

Shelby,

No one will be able to give you the exact dates as they have not been released yet. It's all speculation at this point and even estimates are subject to change at any time. As a poster above has said, many posters on these forums "confirmed" that Durango was not even going to be around in 2014, so if anyone claims to know "for sure" when a new option package will be available when the corporation has not announced it yet, I would be skeptical for sure.

I've seen NO ONE confirm the durango wasn't going to be here in 2014.....but 15' or 16' it will be done on its current platform for sure.

FYI-the v6 will get a different zf than the hemi gets. The 8hp70 for the hemis will also go into the SRT Jeep. If that gives you an idea of the tq/hp it can handle.

Thanks for all the opinions and info posted here. Seems like the more info I get here and on other sites, the more confused I get. Looks like there have been some tranny issues with the 2012 and 2013 Hemis. Vehicle shifting very hard or not shifting when they should, vehicle moving an inch or two forward while in park when first started. Some seem unresloved. Hope these are isolated.

Chris, is there a specific site or page where I can see when Chrysler releases updates or info on specific products? Thanks.

Marty

Ok, so lemme see if I got all this right. Please, correct me if I'm wrong:

Chrysler currently uses 2 ZF 8 speeds, the 8HP45 and 8HP70, which both have 8 gear ratios, they are just different in their torque and HP ratings? So, 8HP45, with Max torque of 332 lb-ft will be mated to the Pentastar, and the 8HP70, with a Max torque of 516 lb-ft will be mated to the hemis. I beleive there is also and AWD variant with a 738 lb-ft torque limit.

Scott, are u saying the 8HP70 will also be used in the diesel and SRT Jeeps as well? What tranny do you currently have in your '13 SRT Jeep?

I believe the Mercedes NAG1 trans is only used in the SRT-8 on 2012 and 2013, the rest of them uses the 68RFE Chrysler trans. From experience, the NAG1 trans is A LOT more reliable.

yes...my 13' Jeep SRT has the Merc A5w580....but so does my 11 Durango Heat...as well as export diesel GC's. the 2011 V8 GC and Durango used the 545rfe with the 2012+ using the 645rfe(65rfe) The 68rfe was used with diesel engines in the ram i think.
