Durango disables itself while driving
Been having an on going issue with the Durango shutting itself off while I am driving, usually while stopped at a light or driving fairly slowly while in my neighborhood. Couple of times it did not stop running but all the warning lights came on and it would not rev above 1500 (limp mode???). It has been to the dealer in Aug and Nov for this issue. August visit was a software reflash and Nov they replaced the powertrain control module and a crank position sensor. It runs fine for a few weeks and now the problem is back. Today it went into limp mode on an interstate on ramp at 60 mph. Called Roadside Assistance when it would not restart after turning off the ignition. In the past this would clear the problem except for a single CEL which goes away after a few hours. After waiting a while it did start and ran again normally so I cacelled towing and took it back to the same dealer near my house. Below is the instrument view after it acts up. When it happened at road speed I felt a serious clunk the second before. This same clunk happens once in while when I step on the gas after not quite coming to a stop. thought it might be a transfer case issue?? Let you know how it is resolved and maybe I can get them to fix the steering wheel vibration issue as well.
Left something out...........the issue may be related to the dead pedal. I can induce the problem with pressure from my left foot on occasion. Dealer thinks I am out in left field with this theory.
Had a similar issue on our 2011 crew,
Car will stall or vibrate at idle and sometime will not restart after shutting it off.
After trial and error (reflash, replaced pcm...) TPM (power module) was the faulty part. No more problem after replacement. (#4692316AI)
After being stranded and having the car towed twice, I figured out that hiting the electronic box under the hood was solving the problem temporary....could start the car :-)

I had the same problem with my 2006 Jeep Commander. It was out of warantee with about 50k miles when it started. I bought it used and had it about a year before it started. Brought to my mechanic who couldn't find any problems and neither could a Jeep dealer. Google search found a bunch of other people had this problem with no fix Ble to be found. I traded it in after I couldn't get it fixed. Sorry no other answer.
A dead pedal or intermittent throttle body is not out of the question. Hopefully they figure it out soon. You're lucky it died on the ramp and not while you were merging. There is a definite safety issue there.

It is actually a sweeping right dual lane that connects 2 expressways. I was well over 60 mph in the left lane when suddenly no power and the steering went manual. Usually my favorite spot to drop unwanted pests.
