Default Recirculating Air Button Turns on A/C?

Does hitting the recirculate button also flip on your A/C as well? My dealer said that was normal functionality.

Spyder,

Here is the full description.

Recirculation Control

When outside air contains smoke, odors, or
high humidity, or if rapid cooling is desired,
you may wish to recirculate interior air by
pressing the RECIRCULATION control button.
Recirculation mode should only be used temporarily. The
recirculation LED will illuminate when this button is
selected. Push the button a second time to turn off the
Recirculation mode LED and allow outside air into the
vehicle.
NOTE: In cold weather, use of Recirculation mode may
lead to excessive window fogging. The Recirculation
mode is not allowed in the Floor/Defrost Mix and
Defrost modes to improve window clearing operation.
Recirculation will be disabled automatically if these
modes are selected.

Thanks for the reply Chris - but why does the A/C button automatically get activated when I hit the recirculate? I haven't seen this sort of functionality before, so this is all new to me (prolly b/c I haven't had a vehicle with digital comfort controls). Seems to be a waste if I have to activate recirculate and then the AC compressor kicks on for a second then goes off.

Per the note in the manual portion listed above, if you turn on the recirc in cold weather your windows could fog up quickly due to the increased humidity in the vehicle. This would come from your breathing or heat from your body and multiplied by the number of occupants. The air conditioner removes humidity from the vehicle just like an air conditioner does from your home. So to prevent fogging from occurring in cold weather when the ricirc is selected the A/C gets activated.
