Congrats on your new Caddy, They are my favorite vehicle of all times, the power train has gobs of power and the interior is lust, plush and comfortable. With that being said: I traded in a 07 Tahoe with 44K miles (still the same OLD body style now in 2014 ) for my Durango and can't be more pleased. My R/T in roomy, comfortable even on long trips (4 hours to drive home from buying it) and love the power and drivers feel of the road vs my Tahoe's top heavy feel. I have owned several caddy's and still have my 07 CTS-V, even though it's out of warrant I still only take it to my dealer since they treat me like a king and their is no price difference then going to any other stealership. Good luck with the Caddy and great color choice exactly the color I would pick. I just can't open the wallet up 70K times, haha

I should have clarified that I was referring to entry level luxury suv vs fully optioned out Durango.

That is what lured me into the Durango initially. I even convinced my wife to get the Durango, and us married folk can relate with me on how difficult it is to convince your spouse .

Sing,
Thanks for clarifying, I thought you were comparing price points of 3-row/V8/AWD models, with a few less options (like heated steering, crash warning), but those youve listed are totaly different vehicles.

Sorry to see you go. I have been pleased with my DD and dealer, although only have had it in for oil changes in the 27,000 miles I have owned it since new. I happen to subscribe to the Consumer Report site and noticed that the only Dodge product CR recommended as a buy is the Durango.

Not to rain on your Escalade parade, but they also rated the BASE Escalade as a worst buy based on the combination of performance, utility, reliability for the money, and all owner's costs over a 5 year period. I wish you well with your new ride and better service with your new dealership.

Anecdotal but the reason I decided not to buy an Escalade is because my neighbor and brother in law both have the latest generation Escalade and both have had numerous transmission problems, 1 of which had to replace the transmission and cost a ton of money (under warranty)

You traded in a new Dodge Durango just because of the dealers customer service?

Default 2011 Citadel V8 problems

My 2001 Durango, had front end problems, the hubs and bearings had to be replaced, the front rotors were replaced, there was a popping sound coming from the dash, the headliner made noises, when coming to a stop she sounded like an airplain landing, when going over bumps she sounded like the shocks were bad, when putting it in reverse she made a loud moan, tires were new but could not be balanced, so they were replaced, my service department forman did hear the frontend noise and did feel the wobble , so they said it was the tires out of balance,so balance they did and the problem was still there, back i go and they replace the tires , promblem still there, so i took her to an independant wheel and front end guy , who heard what i was hearing and feeling before we even made it all the way down his driveway, he drove her, and we turned her around put her on the rack, spinned the tires, he found the front hubs making the noise and the , and also said the rotors were warped, this was at 670 miles on the dodge, so back to dodge i go, told them what i did and for them to call the shop, they did and as i was standing there the tech lifted the car spinned the wheels and said oh i do hear it now, so they wanted to change one side but i said no way check the other side also, and yes there was the same sound that i told them was there, so new rotors new hubs and bearings, and that was the start of my nightmare Durango, from ther it was the issues of the bumping sound when going over bumps, headliner noises, dash popping sounds, after the old we can't duplicate the problem and the ole that's the way the trans is suppose to sound ,i got feed up, i even test drove a brand new 2012 that when i made a left turn the dash went crazy and all the warning lights came on, the sales man said oh sometimes the system needs to reboot itself, but that one did not whobble nor did it have the trans noise, like mine,so after battling with Dodge and Chrysler about giving me one that was not broken and talking to a lawyer, who said it does not fall under the lemon law because it is not the same problem that i am returning for, and the service dept saying hey man that's why you got a warrenty, we can only fix it one thing at a time, i took it to another Dodge dealership, 60 miles away, and traded it in on a 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T 40k, just like the one i traded in on the Durango and walked away with $8000 for the pocket, so i lost my tax and licence fee, that was in Nov 2012 and my Durango is still sitting on the lot as of yesterday

"You say goodbye, I say hello..."(Beatles song)
I traded in a Toyota Sequioa for a 2012 Durango more than a year ago. (Dec 2011). Last week got a cylinder head replaced (under warranty @ 19600 miles). However, the dealer service has been great! They do a good job and kept me updated during the repair.
Regards
CD
