Default 2012 Crew - Shipping Problems!!

Hello everyone!!

I am new to the forum. I just got a 2012 crew for a very good price under 6k miles. The price was so good I bought it from 2,000 miles away.

My problem is these shady brokers!! I need to ship my truck from TX to VA,on the internet all I get is brokers. I want to talk to a actual carrier/shipper not a broker. I heard horror stories where a price was set and then once the driver arrived with your car the price was different and you couldn’t get your car unless you paid. Does anybody have an experience with these shady guys.

And is it even possible to contact a carrier directly!! No brokers!!.

So are you contacting Brokers that specialize in transporting cars? Have you tried searching for car transport companies?

I agree some 3PL companies stink, but you'll get a better rate with them than with a carrier direct most times. The broker usually has a deal with the carrier that gives the broker a better rate. This is due to the broker offering said carrier dedicated lane.

The brokers will usually get you a better price but often you will be waiting a while since they try and set up multiple shipments and pickups at once.
Good luck with your new ride!

try southwest.com and drive it back up. looking at a 1-2 days driving. cheaper than shipping im sure, and you will have a good feel for your ride.

I was thinking the same thing... that way you get to "know" your truck!

Yes, I have quotes ranging from 600-1000 dollars. but for some reasons I try to search on the internet for carriers all I get is still brokers. plus , I will pay the possible extra cost to make sure my car gets here. Because, I had a friend who had a car shipped. when the car arrived the driver wanted more money. when he called the broker they said that's between you and driver we are only brokers.

I actually live in the DC , Northern VA area. That's the first thing I thought then I added up the totals.
Google maps says:
1,608 mi, 23 hours 14 min

Shipping - $600 -$1000 - right to my door step.

Me going to get the car.

Flight - DC - TX - $500
gas driving 1,600 miles - $400
Me taking 2 days off - More than both combined.
Plus extra mileage on the vehicle - 1600 -1700 miles

I am a contractor working in Washington DC, I would have take a Friday off and a Monday to make sure I made it back in time. Plus, I don't paid for time off.
