Tune is late this afternoon Pacific time.

 

They finished late, so I am picking up in morning. I guess the tuning guru really found a lot of power on the dyno with the custom tune after the new headers went one.

I cannot provide any before numbers with the truck completely stock. The only ones I have seen were from a 2011 5.7 JGC that made 262 at the wheels. Diff vehicle, diff dyno, diff day, etc.

Anyway, the "before" pull on my vehicle had the Volant intake, ported TB, AR headers, high flow cats and Borla exhaust and the Diablo inTune canned 91 tune made 290-something at the wheels. The "after" included all the same, but a proper tune on the dyno netted an additional 38 rwhp, for a total of 320-something.

As always peak numbers are hard to nail down from various dynos, various days, Mustang, Dynojet, etc. The real goal is to see the gains from mods on the same vehicle and the drivability. Not sure what the drivetrain loss is on the D with huge 22" wheels, etc., but I think it is safe to say this combo netted a good 50-60 hp at the flywheel, which is pretty darn good for bolt-ons on a normally aspirated motor.

This was on an outdoor dyno in 110 degree heat, so probably a handful of ponies lost there, and this was tuned for 91, not 93+octane. For comparison sake, I asked the shop what a stock SS Camaro makes on that dyno and he said 350-360 (those are 426 flywheel).

I should have dyno sheets tomorrow, maybe some video and, for sure, a seat of the pants opinion and description of the sound with the headers, cats exhaust and tune working together.

My shop said the stock manifolds are horribly restrictive, almost laughable, so he is not surprised to see the massive gains when the truck was tuned for better airflow.

Needless to say, if you really want to max that Hemi, there is a lot to be gained from the headers and a proper custom tune on the dyno.

Very nice. I dyno'd at 310 rwhp with the Hypertech, K&N, TB and Magnaflow. Pretty close together but you have some nice headers on there though. Makes me want to get some made now.

 

I'll let you know how it drives soon. I think the headers and custom tune would add a huge punch to what you have done so far (which is basically exactly what I had before). I think there is 30-40 additional hp there.

I am down for some headers if the gains are tangible and worth the $1K or so they will cost at this time..

yep but I'm waiting for the $1k or less (minus install) window of opportunity !!

I dont think they are worth more, especily when a couple years from now they will be much less/more popular/more available most likely (i know..pay to play to be an early adaptor !!)
