Huge mod week! Wheels w/caliper covers, clear bra, tuner, exhaust, & intake!
Well the mod bug has bitten again! I haven't done this much in 1 week before but here goes.
Monday is the clear bra install; front end, door seal entry (all 4), door handle pockets (all 4), rear entrance, and rocker panels.
Tues is custom wheels, which has been tough to find in the high offset needed to keep from throwing debris all over the car. My local dealer has looked high and low and we have narrowed it down to a couple nice ones. Gonna stay with 20" for several reasons; ride comfort, wheel protection (via a bigger tire vs the 22") and performance (more rolling mass slows you down off line). But we are going to try for a taller tire to fill up the wheel well gap. Also going to be adding the MHT covers in red with custom R/T etched in each one. Here is a pic of the wheel we are leaning towards. It's a Boss 328 in black pearl with a +38 offset so it will fit perfect. The D3's need a +35-40 offset for the tire to not stick outside the body.

Then a couple days rest until I install the Magna Flo cat back. Already pulled the suitcase muffler and like the tone with no drone but it does get a little "rattle canny" and "raspy" sound when you really get on it. So better tone and bigger exhaust tips. I went to several shops in town and they all said if there is an aftermarket one already designed and built do it because these rides are a pain in the ***. And I spoke with my dealer and they are installing these on brand new rides sitting on the lots so no worries with the "warranty" issues. Most dealers don't have big problems with exhaust mods, it's the tunes and intakes they tend to have the problems with.
Going with the Diablo and will be getting a custom tune via data logging for it also. I went with the Diablo for several reasons but mainly it's the data logging and custom tune options. I went with the Hypertech in my first 5.7 Hemi and it's sitting on a shelf because the Diablo blew it out of the water. Plus in less than 5 minutes I can flash it back to stock and take it to a dealer, try that with the Hyertech or whatever that hardwired thing is they have out.
Last is the intake and I'm going with the Mopar CAI. Now before you all go crazy about "cold" air and it being a metal tube I have been around the block with intakes and performance. Once the motor is heat soaked it doesn't matter if it's made of carbon fiber it's heat soaked. It's all about getting air in and air out, so if the intake increases your air intake and the exhaust is opened up to get it out, you make more power. And when you add a tune it's even better. And with that the big reason why a Mopar CAI is because when I go to the dealer and need a TSB update or anything else they pop the hood and see a Mopar intake and just say how good it looks instead of "this is what is causing your problem and we can't fix it."
I will post up pics before and after and give some seat of the pants dyno results along with some Gtimer results. The Gtimer won't be an exact science but it will show and increase in performance, glad I didn't get rid of that thing now.

Very nice! I've got the mopar cai and it does get hot. I've thought about wrapping it, but that's as far as I've got (thinking) It makes the truck sound nice at wot. Kind of got it thrown in with the purchase of the truck.
They all get hot. When you have something right next to an internal combustion motor it's gonna get hot unless it's made of tiles from the space shuttle. Nothing will keep the air "cold" and as fast as it is passing through the intake it's not getting as hot as the tube temp. The air will only be as cold as the air outside. And with colder air the O2 molecules are denser so they give you better combustion. None of the CAI's "cool" the air that would be called a refrigerator....they allow for a smoother and faster flow of air into the intake.
Congrats on the new toys... I would go 22's because they simply look better and most arent any heavier than the stock set up and your theory of unsprung weight vs. going with taller tires will offset not only any gains you see but throw off your speedo for sure. Also I would check into the results the guys are seeing with the Hypertech vs all the bugs Diablo is seeing and the lack of support guys are seeing on their forum for the issues they are having. Good luck with whatever u go with!!
Only looking at going an inch taller overall and the Diablo would take care of the taller tire if it does fit without rubbing. I'm just not a fan of the ride on 22's and how every pot hole becomes a crater, plus with the smaller tire if you even get close to a curb they are toast, been there done that. The rolling mass was just something we saw at the track, guys with 22's VS the same ride on 20's would lose the race every time. And considering these things are pigs off the line I will take all I can get until the TQ management is cracked. I put a bit taller tires on my 20's with my Magnum and never saw any decrease in performance but we are only talking 3/4" - 1" not 2". The JGC SRT8 has 20's for a reason...performance.
My guy will take care of the bugs via data logging. From what I have heard the bug is the ABS light which is coming on when guys are trying to disable the traction control completely which I get in my Magnum when I do that. It gives you a warning that you are messing with the ABS when you disable the TC. But other than that Diablo has been stellar for me with customer service and the tunes. The Hypertech can't offer custom tunes and each ride is a littler different and depending on your mods you can get more with a custom tune. Thanks and your ride is the reason I'm going all black....I dig it!

Nice great to see them on a D3 before they show up! Not many to choose from with that high of an offset.

No there aren't a lot of choices. I wanted all black but didnt want to spend a fortune. This wheel was the best all around choice for me. I painted the calipers black it looks pretty bad ***, you will enjoy them.
Ya that color is pretty rare and stands out. Too many of the black wheels wash out with the tire and give the appearance of a smaller wheel. Gonna get the red caliper covers with R/T etched...it's gonna look pretty sweet!
