A few differences from the Crew not mentioned above:
- Performance steering & Sport suspension with rear load leveling
- Heavy-duty four-wheel disc ABS brakes
- High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps
- Automatic headlamp leveling system
- 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with full-size spare tire
- Remote Start
.
My crew has the 20" wheels and remote start. It really depends on how you equip it. Also the rt is not a higher package, more of a package off to the side. Rt to citadel is sport to luxury. That's how I was explained and common sense agrees.
Dwolson, I agree with you 100%. The Crew is a step below the Citadel depending on how well the Crew is equipped. The R/T is a different beast all together. For those who want a more sporty look and feel.
I have a 2012 v6 crew. In hindsight wish I would have ponied up for a Citadel V8. The V6 is fine if you think of your car as an appliance that gets you from point A to B. If you enjoy the cat of driving get the hemi.
Note, someone mentioned get the v6 with an eight speed. I don't think that was available on the D until 2014, and from the reviews of the new Ram that I have read, I suspect the new D with the V6 mated to the eight speed tranny may be a much more responsive animal. My hunch is that the transmission is balanced towards smoothness and better MPG, and that is part of why the 2011-2013 v6 package can be a little sluggish feeling.

When i chose mine i wanted an rt mainly for the look, not that a crew or citadel don't look sweet, rt is just more agressive but since it wasn't for me but for the wife i went for a crew.
I didn't want a V8 only because i never had one and anything less would seem sluggish.

This is correct as far as the 8 speed not being available on the Durango's.
I was going back and forth between the two and decided on getting a '13 Citadel with hemi, just last week and I haven't looked back. Only issue so far is gas consumption. I don't do a lot of highway driving so I've been getting pretty poor gas mileage, around 15mpg. The incentives and discounts right now on the hemi are pretty hard to pass on. Mine was about 9k under sticker, and I'm sure that will only increase as the delivery of the '14's get closer since they'll have the 8 speed, which will help with mpg
I am glad I got the R/T Durango and not the V-6 crew like I originally wanted. Gas mileage be damned, the Hemi is fun to drive and sure it might hurt a little more at the pump, but with two young kids, this is about as close as I can get to a sports car for the time being.
