Default (Soon-to-be)New Owner R/T but some quick mod questions

So I am just about to purchase a 2013 Durango R/T Black (waiting for my dealer to get one from another dealer). Considering our current family car is a 2003 Honda Accord, I think this is long overdue, and I can't wait to finally have some cargo space!

So I have been lurking here for a few days and want to say thanks for all of the advice you didn't realize you provided me.

Anyway, now that I have the vehicle, I get to start the fun part---MODS! (I do have a 2010 Camaro (hold your boos and hisses) so I am already addicted to "fixing" stock cars)

It looks like a catch can is a must, so that is on the order list. I have one question about the Volant CAI. It is open all along the fender side it looks like. Is that not a concern for increased heat soak, etc? Is it sealed or tight against the fender? I couldn't really tell by some of the pics.

Also, while doing my test drives, I did notice there seems to be a significant throttle delay. Are there any throttle bodies available?

Thank you all for your continued help. I'm am really excited about this SUV!

Welcome slvrshrk, the Volant is a sealed airbox thats only open where it brings in air from the factory location, as far as throttle bodies fastman and modern muscle both offer units... good luck and get some pics up once your new rig arrives!!

Welcome aboard. The volant is open to the fender but doesnt allow a whole lot of engine compartment air to get in.
I believe there are some throttle bodies out there.
I am getting a catch can as well. A friend has a Jeep Cherokee and he collects a fair amount of oil in his catch can after some spirited runs

welcome ti the forum, catch can check, cai check, next tuner to get rid of throttle lag. many of us are running the Hypertech plug and play. i personally love it, see other threads on here concerning it. so with that you have now spent about 790 bucks. your going ti want a weather proof mat for the rear so you dont mess up your new carpet oh yeah and sone very cool MPG caliper covers dont forget them.

I had throttle lag too, before I installed my tuner. I went with the old plug and play and I couldn't be happier with the extra get up and go from the line.

Awesome....so Hypertech tuner it is.

And I am correct in thinking that no changes made to onboard computer so once you unplug it dealer is none-the-wiser, right?

From what I understand that is correct. It would take about 15 minutes or less to remove if you had to take the D in for warranty work.
