Below is the TSB regarding the rattle.
NUMBER: 23-022-12 REV. A
GROUP: Body
DATE: November 21, 2012
SUBJECT:
Knocking Sound From Instrument Panel Area Near The A-Pillar
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves adjusting the driver side hood hinge and if necessary replacing the
hinge pivot bolt.
MODELS:
2011 - 2012 (WD) Durango
**2011 - 2012 (WK) Grand Cherokee**
NOTE: **This Bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to July 2, 2012 (MDH0702XX).**
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a knocking sound from the instrument panel area near the
A-pillar.
DIAGNOSIS:
An audible buzz, squeak, or rattle (BSR) or knocking sound may appear to be coming from
the instrument panel (I/P) area at or near the front leading edge of the A-pillar. The noise
may actually be caused by an improperly adjusted hood hinge. The hood hinge can be
checked in the closed position by grasping the hood near the rear corners at the hinge and
lifting up and down. If excessive motion and/or a knocking sound is produced or the
customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.

a 2013 model built 11/2012!
thats why I said they need to expand the TSB to 2013 models built at least up to nov 2012 cause I have the exact issue and mine wad built beyond what the TSB states as a fix (april 2012)
listen to this:
i walked over to truck and jiggled the hood near the windshield/ pillar on drivers side- ALOT of play in it and definitely the sound I'm hearing from the dash / pillar inside...
so I drive home, park, open the hood and close it - no tools no tightening, no fixing ( just checking bolt size to see what tools Ill need for later) I close the hood and guess what - no more play no more jiggle no more noise !
So it seems its intermittent and the hood must move/shift into a position at times where it doesn't cause the problem,
luckily when I 1st checked it, it was there..or I might have got fooled into thinking it wasn't my issue

Well I dont have Kumhos, I do have turn signals on my mirrors, and toll prices are unacceptable
(I was a TBTA cop at one point, left to pursue another career that better fit my interests and needs...)
This thread fixed my issue regardless of how often its been talked about. Timing is everything...my issue was intermittent and last time I checked no noise in that area - and this time I caught it in the act - so regardless of your intent, Thanks again...
