Default What is window to purchase an extended warranty?

First, I don't want this to turn into a battle of whether or not a warranty is worth the money. I have never purchased one before but personally feel that with all of the computer components in today's cars and the fact that I keep my vehicles for as long as possible, this is what I want to do.

Now....I want to get the Lifetime Max Care warranty. I am currently quoted $2200 via chryslerwarrantys.com. Do I have until the 36/36 manufacturer's runs out, 1 month from purchase, 3 months, etc? When must I purchase this? Just need to prep for plopping down 2 grand.

Thanks!

Did some checking around other Chrysler product forums and this seems to be legit. It is a Chrysler dealer in MA who seems to be wholesaling the policies. I got an online quote for the lifetime policy of $2,250 or thereabouts. To answer your question, as I understand it, you have to be within the first year of ownership or 12k miles to get that price. That is a Chrysler requirement. So you have to purchase it before you hit 12k miles or 12 months of ownership, whichever comes first. I have 10k on the clock. I think I am going to take this info to my local dealer to see if he wants to meet it..

BTW I saw your other post about the thermostat mod. You do realize that Chrysler would for sure try to void even your factory warranty if that mod was suspected of causing a problem. I'm not saying they would succeed, but....

Yeah that's what is keeping me away from hypertech, having to switch back and forth every time I head to the dealer, that would be a pain in the rear

The Hypertech would seriously take about 1 minute to swap out. And honestly, if I go in for an oil change, would they even notice?

No unless they can actually see the programmer.

as for the warranty you have until the 3yr/36000 is up to purchase it. however after your deal is done you have to pay cash for it. Keep in mind at a dealer they are negotiable. i only paid like 1300 for a 5yr/100k warranty (100 deductable) when i purchased my truck. Not all dealers are able to see the lifetime warranty. My neighbor is a finance guy at a dodge dealer and was telling me this.

Hey Baum. Yes you are right about the 3 yr/36k limit. But the price goes up after 12 mo/12k miles I just did a check on the Dodge site. They have a little box to check if your vehicle is older than 12/12. Click it and the price goes up.

The vehicle must be within 4 years and 48,000 miles to purchase a Lifetime Maximum Care service contract from Mopar Vehicle Protection. If you purchase the plan while the vehicle is under 12 months and 12,000 miles the cost is $150 less MSRP. This is in the U.S. only as Lifetime plans are not sold in Canada. If you click on the link below and click on FAQ's you can verify eligibility for all plans.
