Is the Catch Can really needed?

I am taking the bible with a grain of salt being its written by a company that makes/sells catch cans...but there is definitely some great details in there...
heres the thread it came from:
http://www.lxforums.com/board/f295/a...rmance-292029/
also a great read
all this makes me think a dual catch can no PCV is best for my driving style and mods...and a single can with pcv is only a partial solution (oil removal from getting in intake under normal / part throttle - but still open to fouling and spewing junk into intake at WOT if I am reading correctly?)
hardcore modders and engine guys any input??

Just leave it stock. No one on here makes enough power (yet) for the need to remove the PCV and/or add anything else. Read what I posted last page. Adding a single can inline with the PCV doesn't hurt anything on a stock 5.7, but its really just accomplishing the same task that the integrated catch tank downstream is doing.
Once you start adding a ton of boost, it's as simple as venting the valve covers to stop the majority of blowby. I wish someone made baffled valve covers but it is what it is for our engines. I run 30psi boost on my 5.7 based 392 and that's all I've had to do as well as just capping off the PCV.

I would absolutely remove the catch can before service. The PCV system is considered part of your emissions system, at least here in California, soon to be nationwide " You can thank EPA" so tampering with it is subject to a fine the same way as valve cover venting or a valve cover breather or removing/gutting your cats etc. If your dealer or test center is smog certified here in California, they Must call in a referee if they notice tampering or any violation by law. Been hit with this and its not fun. Its coming your way guys...
