2011 Durango problem with WIN
Last night I had a very stressful situation occur where the keyfob was stuck in the ignition and wouldn't start. Called roadside assistance, checked battery for jump but battery was fine. Gear shifter in park, can't move it out of park, steering turns hard so it is not locked. Brake light did not come on when pressing the brake pedal.
JustAnswer.com described this exact same problem stating it is a problem with the WIN (wireless ignition node). Either the WIN locked up, the gear shifter was not in park all the way, or the WIN fuse (M27) is blown. The solution is to temporarily disconnect the negative battery cable or remove the M27 fuse and plug it back in.
The stress occurred because I had temporarily parked in a no parking zone to unload drums for a show. The show was about to start and I was being asked to move my vehicle or the business would have my vehicle towed.

Same thign happened to me a few months back. Had to have it towed, at least was at my house. They repalced the win module, but that was not issue. Issues was burnt out fuse wire which I told them from my research it is related to the fuse, could have saved themselves money and time just checking the fuses. But apparently when you have no power at all, the fob will not come out of ignition, some safety feature I guess. Glad you got it squared away.
The solution given on JustAswer.com mentioned that if this solution works, it is necessary to update the software for the WIN (i.e. firmware update). Usually firmware is updated by writing software to an EPROM. I don't know if this is something a user can do or if it's necessary for the dealer to perform. In any case, since this is a software defect, I feel this is something the manufacturer should complete without cost to the owner. Apparently this is an issue only on the 2011 model. Which means later models have the latest version of the firmware.
