Default What is this Side Panel Insulatio?

I just got my Durango a few days ago and just had the time to go through it and found this (picture attached) in the back. I checked the part number on google and it pulls up as a side panel Insulatio (spelled that way). It looks like some kind of filter or insulation somewhere but I can't seem to find where. Any ideas?

My Durango is a 2013 Crew. I thought I updated my profile with all that info when I signed up..I guess it didn't take so I'll just do it again. : )

I found a few sites that sell that piece for $40 but I have no clue what it is. I looked throughout the panels on both sides and don't see where this thing would go. I'll check again but if you have any ideas please do let me know. Thanks!

to my knowledge nothing was added by the dealer. I figured someone h3ere would know. I'll just call the parts section of a dealership, give them the part number and let them tell me what it is on Monday.

wow this is getting stranger by the minute. Called a couple of different dealers and NONE of them seem to know what this thing is. I gave them the part number and even emailed pictures of this thing and all they seem to know is that it's "some sort" of insulation. The oddity is that they say that they don't see that part number come up for any 2013 Durango. It was sitting in the back among a bunch of other things in plastic wrap including the antenna which I had to put on myself so i'm wondering if it was something the dealer was supposed to do before I drove off in the Durango. Either way, no one as of yet has any idea on what this part is or what it is for.

Anyone ever seen this thing before?

Open up rear hatch by tire carrier and loosen carpet up so you can see body.
There could be a spot that that snaps into. Its an insulated panel so wherever its missing from either gives off heat or cold to the interior from behind a plastic of floor covering
As for the dealer you purchased from not even installing antenna that is crazy.

DCrew,

Have you talked to your selling dealer regarding the part that was in the Durango? If you would like assistance reviewing your inquiry please feel free to PM me your VIN# and the name of your dealer.

Congratulations on your new Durango and welcome to the Dodge Forum!
