I had not gotten an extended warranty on recent vehicle purches until this Durango. With all the electrical goodies I just had a sense about an issue arising. Thank goodness I did.
I'm not sure - I would need to check. It came with some courtesy service plan that expired last year (all maintenance was free). That aside, I still don't understand why Chrysler isn't addressing this as it appears to be a huge and widespread problem.
At $1,100 a pop that's a 24 percent profit margin for the local Dodge store; at $1,300 the profit margin is 36 percent.
The $840 he said was retail proce, meaning that's what it will cost the customer. The dealer cost is probably $500-$600. And I understand a dealer has to make money and parts is typically where all of the markup is at.
My issue is with Chrysler not replacing this all under "good faith" considering how many issues they've had.
For example, I do heating and cooling, and I can't tell you how many txv's I've changed of Carrier. And the part is almost always covered regardless of the equipments warranty because the manufacturer knows if they stick the part cost to all of the customers, they'll lose business on the next sale and get a bad word for their cust. service.
