Default Anyone have a tint strip on the windshield?

Hey guys,

Went in on Friday to get my windows tinted. Wanted to get the front 2, plus a small strip on the top of the windshield. Guy told me that because of those black dots that come from the factory, the tint wouldn't look good. He said they would mess with the adhesion and would like a little white because of air pockets.

I got the front 2 done, but didn't do the windshield. Has anyone done this, is this guy right? If you have done it, can you post pics from inside?

Tint on mine looks great, just wish I could've gotten that strip.

Thanks!

I have done it to mine. I have not had any problems. It really depends on the quality of the tint and the person putting it on knowledge.

I had the place I went to do 5% on it and see nothing white at all inside or out.

Same here, no issues at all, sounds like not sure what he was talking about.

So for all of you who have it done. did they go over the dots or did they cut around it? I have mine done and there are some adhesion issues over the dots themselves. There is a quarter sized circle where it basically has an air pocket dead center. Doesn't really bother me and the only reason I got the strip was to hide my radar detector. So left coast your tint guy's point is valid.

Great, thanks guys. I'll talk to another shop and see what they say. Original guy quoted me $15 for that strip, so maybe I'll just do it to see what it looks like. If it looks crappy, I can remove it and it was only $15.
