14 Durango Tires
Has anyone driven their 14 D in snow yet with factory tires, specifically the Goodyear Fortera HL 265/50/20? I have read some reviews on tirerack.com and they say that it isnt so great in light snow and ice. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have recommendations on a good set of All-season tires and winter tires?
I live in NYC and going based on the weather we have been having snow is probably on its way soon.
Thanks

Bought my Durango in Dec 2011 and it had the Kumho's on it - we got very little snow that year, but what we did get, I was losing grip on those tires. In the summer of 2012, I bought some Firestone Destination ST's - they were great in rain, but again, in light snow, I was breaking traction and just didnt trust them. So this year, I just purchased some Bridgestone Blizzak's and will put them on the OEM rims.

CPW: Is yours AWD or rear only? If all wheel drive I can assure you it's excellent in snow (and ice) with the Forteras. My experience has been that until I tried going slowly through drifts that were deeper than the front air dam, I could not get it stuck. And yes, I was in a friends driveway going slowly to test it out. Short answer is that the AWD D with Forteras will get you through more snow than any sane driver ought to be driving through.

Even with snows on it doesn't guarantee you won't slip and slide. Snow is snow, and it's very slippery. Just because you have 4wd doesn't mean you can drive with impunity. The Forteras are fine for careful driving in the snow, and you are unlikely to get stuck unless you bury the low air dam.
I've never even gotten stuck in a fwd car with mediocre all weather tires on. Spent weeks in Vermont in the winter in a pos with all weathers on and never once needed a push, or spun out. It's all in how you drive.
Heck, we had a lot of rain around here a couple weeks ago, and I saw so many accidents and people spinning out. Just a matter of stupidity.
