I too opted for the lifetime Mopar warranty. I tend to keep my vehicles for approx. 10 years so this warranty gives me piece of mind. Another plus since it's a Chrysler factory warranty, it's good anywhere there is a Chrysler/Dodge dealership. Many major components can get expensive to repair or replace, the warranty has you covered (insurance) as long as you own the vehicle. There is also some buy back credit should you decide to sell the vehicle within 5 years. So getting back to your question, is it worth it, truely only gets answered in the years to come.

Statistically, every warranty sold is benefiting the seller, not you. Otherwise they wouldn't offer it. Some people will come out ahead, most will not.

I made the decision long ago to never pay for an extended warranty. Instead, make sure you have an emergency credit card on which you never carry a balance. If you get in a pinch, use that. Or, every time you think about buying a warranty on something you buy, put the money in a mutual fund instead.

The other day i bought a $2 cable at radio shack. They tried to sell me a warranty. Seriously.

Maybe I'm missing something but I'm reading that you get a lifetime, bumper to bumper warranty similar to new car for $2,500? I'd take that in a second if I wanted to keep the vehicle. I have a 2006 Chrysler 300C with 132K kms and I've dropped well over $2,500 since my warranty expired. After 5 or 6 years, certain parts break from use (front end and back end Chrysler/Dodge). If I can cover myself upfront for most every repair, even for 10 years, I'd guess the value to risk is well amortized.

As for the credit card comment, you're buying insurance so you don't have to put $3K for a new tranny on your card at 19% and take the next 5 years to pay it off.

I've had extended warranties come in handy of Hondas. With the problems I've seen on the Durangos with the TIPM It was easy to get one.

But I debated between the MVP from Chrysler or the 3rd party pushed by the dealership. Ended up paying $1500 for the PMM "Platinum Elite" and they threw in 60 months if scheduled maintenance from Chrysler. Oil changes and filters only. I usually do my own but free, why not.

But I have 60 days to cancel it.

Anybody have experience with these guys?

Should I just go with the Chrysler Ext Warranty?

Ah, 10-4.

Thanks. I think in going to head over and talk to somebody at the local dealership and compare the 2 different coverages (between MPP and Mopar).
