Don't worry about it too much bro. Dodge will cover it to 100k miles under powertrain warranty (was free) plus in states like mine (ca) it follows under emissions laws that force the manufacturer to replace parts that contribute to nox, ho, and soon co2 emissions for 15 years.

Just got back from taking my 2012 Durango 3.6 to dealer with #2 cylinder misfiring..I've not had good dealings with Dodge Service Centers and was dreading it big time....our mechanic told me of another dealer to take it to so I had an appointment this morning at 10:30 am...had wife follow me because I knew I would have to leave it.

Within the first 3 minutes (literally) the service guy told me first he was going to put me in a rental car which was covered under the warranty work...that they would probably have to change out the head on the #2 cylinder which they were used to doing..said they were doing about 12 a month but it was all covered under warranty...if they had the part they would get me my Durango back by Monday evening.

Took longer to get rental car (about 15 minutes) then to get set up for them to do the work on my Durango. I'm impressed....there are two other dealers in the Houston area that could take lessons from these guys.

Sounds like you've found a new home dealer for all of the work on your DD.

An update on taking my 2012 Durango in for #2 cylinder misfire...took it in Thursday morning...called yesterday at 5:00 pm said it was ready to pick up but if I waited until this morning he would see that they washed it and made it ready.

Picked it up this morning and it was all shinny and clean.

Finally found a dealer with great service.

It's been about a week since my dealer replaced the left side heads. So far so good, seemed to fix the issue. My dealer has recently hired new staff for the service department, from the manager to the writers. They are much better than the previous staff. I was given a loaner car. They had my Rango for 24 hours, which way less time than I thought they would have it. My service writer also said the next oil change is on them. They changed the oil and filter when they replaced the head so it's a win for me. I am still disappointed that this issue exists with a SUV with only 38,000 miles. This will be my last Chrysler product. Hopefully I can get about another 2 years out my 2011.

Good to hear that a Dealership realized it had issues and stepped up to make positive changes. Try and think that that this could happen to anything mechanical, while disappointing, it could be worse.

I don't keep vehicles long. 3-4 years I get new one. I have owned almost every brand u can think of that's not considered exotic. I never had issues with other vehicles that I have had with Chrysler products as stated in my first post. They got me twice won't happen again. I have a 2003 BMW z4 with 40,000 miles that has only gone to the dealer for the free service. I now do all the service myself so it has not seen a dealership since 2007. I could go on. I get there are some Mopar faithfuls that will defend Chrysler till they r blue in the face, but not this guy. Chrysler's customer service is top notch, pretty much on par with BMW, Mercedes or any other brand. I just can't get over the poor quality of their products.

Aren't you jumping ship a little early? Unless you've had some horrible problems with the DD or other Chrysler products getting a major repair done under warranty doesn't -- IMHO -- warrant changing products. I had an '06 Pacifica that needed rocker shafts (a common weakness I'm told) after about 60K. Got it fixed under warranty and it ran fine. I sold it to buy the DD but overall it did what I needed it to do exceptionally well for the 7 years I owned it.
The fact Chrysler and most other manufacturers now waranty their drivetrains for 50000-100000 miles, compared to things back in the day when a warranty might be 3/36,000, proves engine reliability has improved greatly.
Think of the early jet engines, specifically the German Jumo 004 (c.1943) that needed a total rebuild after only 25 hours of service. Today's jet engines go for thousands of hours -- the GE F404 for the F/A-18 goes about 6500 hours if I remember right -- before a rebuild is called for.
So don't let one major problem -- covered by warranty, no less -- sour you on the entire company. Obviously the dealer and techs are top-notch, from what you said, and value your business. Give them a chance.
Rejoice that you didn't buy an Audi in the 80s that had all of those "sticking accelerator" problems. :-)

Well my 2011 Heat didn't pop this code until well after 100K miles so now I guess I'm screwed. Having problems getting the state inspection now because of it. And why has it taken Dodge almost 10yrs to release a repair manual for these vehicles to Haynes? (Release date for the manual Feb 25th 2020) Most manufactures have a manual out within 4 to 5 years.
