License plate issue
Ok, I am in Texas waiting on my 14' R/T and am contemplating the location of the front plate. In my opinion, mounting it half way up the vehicle on the bumper really hurts the sporty look of the lowered R/T. If I move it down the front license plate will conflict with the radar for the Adaptive Cruise. So I am thinking of moving it down to the lower area and shifting it over to the far passenger side. The plan would be to cut it down until it fits and trim it with some black rubber fuel line. If I order black background plates with white numbers it should look pretty slick.
Questions:
1. I cannot find anything that says I cannot trim the background of the plate. Most brackets overlap and effect the dimensions of the background anyway. I can't find anything on he numbers as well but I am sure that reducing them is probably a no no. So can I trim the background and make it shorter?
2. I cannot find anything that says I have to have it in the center. Is it ok to shift it over?

You can really do anything you want but have bail $$ ready as the judge has the final say.
On a serious note in most states you don't own the plate, its the property of the state, you are defacing the tag and is subject to the mood of the DMV/PD

Bend it over instead of cutting it. Many new vehicles have the front plate not centered on the front. New f-150's for example have the front plate mounted to the drivers side. Most cops i know just want the front plate on the front somewhere visible.
The jeep guys mount winches and stuff up front and have to get creative with front plate mounting.

We have no front plate laws here in Colorado also. Good pc for stop so figure out a place to put it on the front. The holes in the bumper were already there on mine or i may have placed it lower.
Texas just increased the fine for no front plate to $200.00. There is also a law that says you can't cover any of the wording. Some state senator wanted to police to start enforcing it. If you notice dealer-installed plate frames, they are thin across the top so as not to cover the word TEXAS. My rear plate on the D says across the top "My Other Car Is" and across the bottom it says "A 1967 GTO". Sorry. Had to brag. Conclusion? If the holes are already there as another poster mentioned, put the plate there and forget about it.
