I have to have my toys but I would insist on the new model.

Also FWIW if I had it to do over, I would probably pick exactly what I want and have it built to order. Damned "true blue" still looks like purple in the wrong light.

I believe consumer reports did an article where they stated that only about 8% of new car buyers actually place orders for cars. Everyone else buys them off dealer lots. I can't, for the life of me, understand why. It's a major purchase (behind a house, it's likely the most expensive one). If you're going to buy it new, get it the way you want it, not the way the dealer or manufacturer wants it. To me, buying off the lot defeats the whole purpose for buying a brand new vehicle to begin with.

Unless you can get a huge deal, I see no reason to purchase a 2014 off the dealer lot when you can order one.

That being said, any differences in those numbers are a reflection of the dealer and what you negotiated when you bought it and are trading it.
My experience says you're wrong. A $50K sticker price shouldn't trade for $33K 9 months later. My 11 Odyssey, 10 4Runner, 12 Sequoia, 07 4Runner, 05 4Runner all lost about $6500 a year. The only saving grace with Dodge is they discount heavily. I've averaged $6500 off each Durango.

Word, bro!
My first new car (1967 Ford Fairlane 2-dr hardtop) was ordered from the local FoMoCo guy and it took six weeks for delivery. The last 4-5 new cars were from the dealers' lots because I was in a rush. Consequently I was always a little ticked they didn't have this or that which i would've added if I'd had the patience to wait for delivery.

PDWelch, my used car manager experience says you are wrong! Sticker price has ZERO to do with your first year of depreciation. The minute you drive it off the lot, your car is worth INVOICE-HOLDBACK-ALL INCENTIVES-20%. Regardless of manufacturer. After that it's a more reasonable depreciation.

I found the truck I was looking for on the lot w 5 miles on it and got a great deal. I was looking for fully loaded RT though, so probably more out there like that. I used dodge website to find it. Figure out the sticker price on the truck u want and u can quickly find it by scrolling through the pages. I don't see how u can get a deal when ordering a truck

Thanks guys. I picked up my '14 SXT last night. It has the 8.4a, heated seats and steering wheel, backup camera which were things I was looking for in my purchase. The only thing it didn't have was remote start, but I made them add that. I was able to get around $6k off of sticker plus remote start.

Nice choice, looks great and that's a great deal. 6k off is the best deal I was able to find and it was online with a dealer in Oklahoma. Best I could negotiate with my local dealer was 5,200 off, well done....are you William Shatner?
