I saw on the "list your mods" thread, you say you customized the Volant by creating a 3" ram air setup. What did you do, can you please elaborate? Any pics? Did it boost performance?

These are crappy cell pics sorry but you get the idea. I used zip ties to hold it in place then glued the sections together and used aluminum bands to mount them to the chassis.

This is a tight fit for a 3 inch and slightly bulges the inner fender lining toward the tire. no interference though.

the open area of the Volant is hidden in the fender where your 3 inch feeds it

My IATs are significantly lower (tested and info in the thread "some under hood temps") and because of the Volant box design this setup creates a high pressure zone in the Volant box at speed. Consists of a 27 inch downpipe, (3) elbows and a 4 inch pipe section. If I did it again I would go with 2 1/2 inch piping for an easier fitment. Cost about 20 bucks to make and its *******ly invisible.

Thanks for posting the pics, so you are basically creating a second forced air input for the Volant. I might try something similar.

Yep. The pathway for air coming through the stock location is both small and much hotter coming off the radiator. This draws cooler air from the lower fog lamp area

Ok, it's out for delivery. I should get it today so how long is it going to take me to install this CAI? Any tricks or gotcha's I should be aware of?

Update: fed ex just left, the shipping notice was for my weather tech liner for the back of the Durango.....so no Volant today....so depressed

No, when I got a fed ex tracking link sent to me I thought it was this, but then my weather tech liner showed up. I was going to send them an email tomorrow asking for tracking info to see if it shipped.

This may be a really dumb question so forgive me if it is , but is there any concern about rain and water when forcing air from directly through the grill?
