The new 1500 Ram 5.7 is rated at 395 HP while the Durango's 5.7 is rated at 360. The dealer service guy told me he thought the engines were the same and could not explain the difference. Could the factory tune be that different between the two? Do they have different cams?

All of these 2014's have the same 5.7 Hemi

370 Horsepower / 395 Torque - Dodge Charger
375 Horsepower / 410 Torque - Dodge Challenger
363 Horsepower / 394 Torque - Chrysler 300
395 Horsepower / 407 Torque - Ram 1500
360 Horsepower / 390 Torque - Jeep Grand Cherokee

look at the engine bay inside the ram, you get a ton more space to work with, bigger intake, bigger exhaust from what i've read,

Dual stage intake manifold/ intake and tune. My ram had identical exhaust manifolds to my RT. On a side note my ram was equipped identically to my RT. Same transfer case and all with the exception being 3.92 gears in the Ram. It weighed 250 lbs more than my RT but the truck would spank it in acceleration. Better intake man, better tuning better gearing and a lot less T Management.

Yeah my 2011 QC Sport RAM with 3.92's would dust my R/T Durango and my Charger R/T can take them both.

Like fish and grits said my 09 Ram would spank my D. 3.92 is the key. Lined up next to a new Ram last weekend and even with my minor mods still got spanked light to light! I see a 14 JGC SRT8 in my near future!

I justified just over 40k for the Durango as a work truck......I don't think my wife would go for 62k so. I can go faster .....lol

Mine isn't going to have a choice!! 12's can be found down here with pretty low miles for mid $40's, really want the 8 speed so I may just lease a 14.

If you can find a 14 JGC SRT8 for 62k buy it. I was sitting in one on Wednesday and it was 72K and they weren't moving on the price.

FTR I was only sitting in it because I was waiting on service on the DD. Im not bailing on you guys.g

Would it not be cheaper to do a engine and trans swap to the Durango rather than spend another 20 plus grand to go faster in a smaller truck?

Wow, I "sat" in one while I waited for the finance people when buying my. Durango. I saw the sticker at 70k and just assume they would come down a little.....
