Had a great conversation with Steve's guy and he will be working out some numbers for me.

The same dealer above came back with "better pricing" claims to be $500 over invoice.

Option1: $45,864 (MSRP $47,870) + tax&dmv
Option2: $45,750 (MSRP $47,675) + tax&dmv
Option3: $41,421 (MSRP $42,980) + tax&dmv (This was a new option of a limited V6 with some options)

I think his boss sent me an email this morning to discuss this as well but I will wait until I get more numbers.

Another local dealer sent me a quote based on the only R/T in stock and I will be speaking to them tomorrow as well to price out my other options. Their Durango specced pretty close to what I have option 1 above for had an MSRP of $46,875 with a sale price of $42,843 not including fees, tax/dmv.

The hunt continues...

 

I'd say they are half way there. You have more room to negotiate. That isn't $500 below invoice.

 

You should be able to get 5,200-6,000 off of MSRP on a 14

 

That is no deal at all... Go find another dealer.

 

I wish I was dealing with dealers in your area then. Up here in NYC these dealerships are tight. I would be happy seeing some of the deals people here have gotten.

I don't think any dealer here would go for $5,200 off let alone $6,000.

 

Its the last weekend of the month, this is your best time to make a good deal. Those top deals are a joke. You may not squeeze $5200-6000 off in that area but I wouldn't accept anything less than $4k off MSRP.

 

Every state and metropolitan location is different with regard to pricing. People who live on the east coast cannot compare their prices with the west coast, nor the Midwest. Every area has it own market dynamics.

Having said that, you are starting to get some movement on your quotes and you are on the right track. Keep leveraging 2-3 dealerships against each other and your quotes will continue to drop. You said that you hated dealing with dealerships. Think of it as a game....it's kinda fun really.

You can't compare your pricing with other areas. For example; I live in Metro-Detroit. It seems like over half of buyers in the 5 country area of S/E Mich, get a discount of some type, i.e., Employee discount, Friends and Family discount and Industry Supplier discounts etc.

Now, go out there and beat 'em up.

You may want to think about how far you are willing to drive for a certain amount of savings. Like I said previously, I needed to order an R/T because I couldn't find what I wanted without getting things I didn't want to pay for. So getting a price from different dealers allowed me to compare apples to apples. I had to drive 70 miles each way but I saved $1150.00 over the dealer 15 miles from my house. For that amount I would have driven a few hundred miles each way but you may not want to. Once you know how far you are willing to go, you can get prices from dealers within that radius and see how good you can do.
