I had the resonator removed and in its place I put an x pipe. Which for $150.00 has made a nice tone and growl. There is no drone in the cabin. This is definitely worth the upgrade.

Still wondering if there should be any concern for timing or back pressure issues created by this. The engine is tuned and designed for the suitcase. Right?

It's tuned for a certain amount of back pressure but it will compensate for the increase in exhaust flow, just like it does for increased air flow from a CAI

I was told at the dealership the suitcase is a resonator and the rear individual cans are the mufflers.

That would be incorrect. The suitcase is a suitcase muffler AKA a resonated muffler with two rear resonators out back to keep noise at bay.

If you want quite when cruising but loud when running why not slap an electric cut out in? I would imagine that would give the v6 guys some rumble and when you get into your neighborhood just close it with the push of a button.

Mufflers come before resonators
