Default CEL = engine cutoff!

Twice in the past couple of weeks the engine (V-6) has stopped running and the CEL popped up.
The first time I was cruising at 50 mph and the CEL came on and the RPM went to zero, but as I coasted to the side of the road the engine restarted by itself at about 40 mph, so it was off for less than 10-15 seconds.
The second time, I was backing out of a parking space. I turned everything off and restarted the engine and went on as if nothing had happened. In both instances the engine was at operating temperature.
Obviously it needs to go to the shop to have the codes read/deciphered.
Anybody have a similar experience?

Default Tipm

Read up on the TIPM issues, especially with 2011-12 models.

Might be what you are experiencing.

My wife was coming back from the store and she said something of that effect happen to her. Lost all power and was able to pull off into a shopping center and had me come up to get her. The D started up with the CEL on but I had no issues on the ride home. Next day the CEL went off. Took it in to the dealer about a week later for an oil change and they said it was a code with improper torque and the ABS? Of course they could not replicate it so, it could have been a glitch with the cold and electronics. Wish it was something cause my 36k mile warrenty is up in 2k. I was hoping it was the TIPM so it could get replaced just in case

Sheesh!
After reading the posts it sounds like that is what I got. Luckily I still have 2,500 miles and 7 months left on the 3-36 warranty. Some how I had assumed I had a 5-50 bumper-to-bumper and 100K on the powertrain but after checking the Dodge site I learned differently -- 3-36 not 5-50.
I'll be setting up an appointment ASAP with the local Dodge store which will also give me a chance to see how well they react to doing very expensive warranty work, since the TIPM retails for $651(!) and I sure as hell don't want to suck up that myself.
Shout out to "hellomoto" for the tip. Thanks!

Both if you should buy the extended warranty. Mopar Vehicle Protection (MVP)

For 7yr/120k mile it was like $1800

Or lifetime/unlimited for like $2100
