Default Difficulty filling my tank - 2014 RT

I picked up my 2014 R/T yesterday. When I tried to fill the fuel tank for the first time, I had difficulty with the auto shut off on the fueling nozzle. The gas was splashing back up the fill tube and triggering the nozzle's auto shut off feature. It couldn't take even the lowest setting without backing up. I had to trickle it in; on-off, on-off. At that rate, it would take 20 mins to fill my tank.

I finally was able to run the nozzle on full trigger by rotating the fill nozzle upside down. Anyone else experience this?

By the way, I absolutely love this Durango. While shopping, I considered an Explorer and the Traverse; I sure made the right choice.

I have had this problem before but not with a Durango. It could have been the station you where at. I would try it at a different filling station and see if it happens again.

I havent had this happen to the durango but it happened to me in a rental before. I wonder if you just have a trapped air pocket thats doing this. Either that or your evap system is clogged. See if it happens again during your next fillup.

Yep, this has happened to me at one filling station only. I think it has to do with the filling stations proper installation of the vapor recovery tube.

Have this issue all the time with my Wrangler (common issue with them). I can usually get around it by pulling the filler out an inch or two.

Thanks for the tip, but I tried that...didn't work. The only thing that worked was turning the nozzle upside down. A very awkward position with the hose pointing up.

This was my first fill up. It may be that particular pump. I'll try another in about 350 more miles.

I have a 2011 Durango and have that same problem occur only when I go to one specific pump at a local station. So in my case I know for sure it is not the vehicle but that pump for some reason. Try going elsewhere for a while before taking to dealer for a repair.
