Default Convert 8.4A to 8.4AN?

I have done some research and cannot find out how to do this. I am sure it is a simple software update and shouldn't take $600 to the dealership to do. Has anybody tried doing this themself?
I know you can grab a vin number from a limited version from a dealership online to ensure you get the 8.4an radio update option:

had to pay the 600.. Dealer places order in the computer with your serial number.. and then programs the radio with chrysler on the phone to give codes.. honestly a rip.. 15 minutes later..after paying for it.. I went to use the GPS. and couldn't find the address I was looking for.. my Iphone had it .. my 5 year old Garmin Nuvi found it.. No traffic (in canada) again my 199 garmin has that. Wonder what it will cost me to update the maps. .. Oh well Wife want's it in the radio.. so guess I'm still a sucker.
Another bug.. why do I have to hit the tiny map icon in the radio every time I start the car. my REN uconnect split screens.

Garmin with headsup display is better option. still can run audio thru radio, and get turn by turn on the windshield. 199.00 !! for iphone.

Do a search on the Jeep forum. If there's an update you should be able to find it. There is a guru over there, it's how I updated my radio without dealer ignorance or cost.

Do you have a link or user name I should lookup/contact? I have the 8.4A and would like to see if it is possible to activate the navigation on your own. There has to be a way to do this.
