Default Mopar CAI fix??

So after looking through all the threads on CAI's personally I like the appearance of the Mopar better even though it does have the metal intake tube (let's face it, this is a 5000 lb SUV, metal/plastic isn't gonna major this thing noticeably different). That being said, has anybody come up with a good solution on filling the void space in the heat shield where the tube passes through?

Here is a thread I started on another site. There are some options for you in it.

There is no specific CAI for the DD from Chrysler, but they do make one for the Challenger, 300 and Charger (?), and for the 2011-13 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Mopar part number is 77070042 and retails for around $350. The "close out cover" is also for the JGC and can be had on-line for about $6.

Ok nice to know that's an issue. Unfortunately that isn't exactly what I was talking about lol. From the pics I have found of the mopar kit installed it "appears" there's is a large void space of material between the intake tube and the heat shield box where it passes through. Am I wrong? It just looks like there is about a 3/4-1 inch gap all the way around the intake tube where it passes through the box to the filter. ??

Cool fix for the "ram air" duct though. Glad you pointed that out for me. Thanks

I just looked up a mopar kit and see what you're talking about. Never noticed it before. That is a pretty major gap, esp for the v6.

You could probably get some automotive door/windor weather stripping and line the edge with it. Other than that, no idea.

I went with the AFE. Its pretty sealed off. All powdercoated metal. Looks pretty good. Also reuses the factory "ram air" scoop.

My fault, I misread your original post. Yeah, others have complained about that too with the Mopar. I think most go with the Volant because it is closed off as a result. I am talking about the 5.7 setup not the V6.

Sorry about that, what I replied with did not answer your question.

Volant doesn't make a CAI for the DD V-6, V-8 only.

AFE has a plastic bung that passes through the metal box.

Perfect seal and fit.

Alright, even though I like the painted mopar intake (because it would match my silver truck) you've sold me on the AFE. Anyone know who's got the best price on them.... I'm mostly seeing around $270
