Default Selling Factory Hood

What's everyone's thoughts about selling factory hood? It has the insulation pad and already painted PW7 Bright White. What's anyone one thought on price?

the biggest issue is finding someone close to you that wants it, looking at salvage yards they want close to $300

Wait for a hailstorm, supply of used ones in the area will be wiped out, and you'll get more. New aftermarket can range $250 to $1,000 while new OEM are over $1,000. A good used OEM hood sure should be worth the $300 suggested. Turns out that although I need a new hood due to hail damage, the shipping to SD would be prohibitive, so I'll pass.

Insurance didn't cover the damage? How about the rest of the car, certainly it suffered damage also, right?

I have $5,600 damage and insurance is covering it. If I can get a local OEM hood I would and have them deduct it from my deductible. They just put an aftermarket hood on my Charger and the fit is not the same as OEM. It is about .5" shorter and sticks up a bit in the middle at the front. Pondering whether I have any recourse with my insurance company since they choose aftermarket over OEM to save $800 or so. No used ones in a several state area due to multiple hailstorms.

We had two big hailstorms in the area, six days apart. I'd speculate that over 20,000 cars were damaged in this area, with at least one dealer having several hundred new cars totalled. My 07 Charger got hit twice, but my Durango was spared both times - only to get it on vacation to the Black hills a few days later. My Durango repair appointment isn't until mid-November - that's how backlogged all of the body shops are.

Sounds like a great excuse for a ROAD TRIP! Guys only. In a pick-up. Assuming you have the time and wife's approval. :-)

Yeah - the reputable dealers and body shops bring in the same PDR crew during hail season each year, and they tend to do it right. We also get fly-by-night outfits setting up tents in empty lots and doing PDR way under estimates or for folks without insurance. These guys do it as cheaply and quickly as possible, sometimes drilling holes for access, or other destructive methods.
