And at $60K-plus there will be a good number of buyers. 'Vettes and 'Stangs are pretty obvious but when this sleeper pulls up -- watch their eyes bulge.
Please GOD let them drop this motor in the '15 Durango R/T. Scrapping up my pennies NOW
Much as I'd like to take a spin in a Hellcat, that much power in a relatively low priced car (as compared to other vehicles with that much power) will end in a "Darwin moment" for many, and unfortunately some nearby innocents. Lots of pictures online of similar Darwin moments of folks taking their first spin in Ferraris, Porches, etc. Wonder how bad the insurance will be on a Hellcat? I probably shouldn't own one - though I still want one.
In a Durango? Would be interesting but I'd be worried about the high center of gravity with that much power. Also would be challenging to do AWD, so they would probably just stick with RWD. I'd be willing to bet the SRT team builds a Hellcat Durango just for the hell of it. Won't be a Hellcat JGC since it appears that Dodge is officially their performance badge - to the point of dropping the SRT 300C.
I would really like to see just a Durango srt and think it should be a true consideration. Build it in 2wd, leave the Jeep awd. It's apparent that the suspension (aside from the rear shock/ coil) configuration is adaptable, brakes are a bolt on deal with no tooling or manufacturing changes and the firewall/ floor can accommodate the motor and seats just as the wk2. Keep it rwd just as the other Dodge srt platforms and it wouldn't be a huge contender for the Jeep but still leave an option for the Mopar diehards.
