I just got a call from the dealer. (my DD has starting issues) The dealer wants 1100 USD to replace the TIPM.

Will this 75$ repair cure my starting issues?

Thanks

Claus

Until another circuit in the TIPM fails. First thing I would do is get on the phone with Chrysler and try to get is covered.

The DD has 53K miles. I don't think its covered.

I had and alternator replaced $820 less than a month ago. And now I have to replace the $1,100 TIPM?

This thing is expensive

Not the point. There is a good chance they will cover it out of the warranty period. You have to make the call first or you'll never know.

Politely ask for them to cover some of the cost. They understand there is an issue so just be nice and ask.
If they give you 1/2 off its better than full price

Last year I would say just go with the fix but dodge will likley do something now.
Plus you would get the newest version of the TIPM. Like TNtech said, the fuel pump relay isn't the only problem with that dumb thing.

Smile TIPM Replaced

I got my TIPM replaced less than two weeks ago. Chrysler worked with the dealer (Allen Samuels DOdge in Katy, Texas) for goodwill assistance. All I had to pay was $100. My Durango was out of warranty by miles and within warranty by time.

Thanks again !

Woohoo score !

Check your turn signals and fog lamps. There are 2 terminals they have to swap around on the new ones, if they don't your fogs will flash with your turn signals.

If you have an 11 be on the look-out for the recall notice to get your $100 back!

Smile Fog Lamps OK

The fog lamps and turn signal seem to be working fine. Thanks for the tip.

My Durango is a 2012 model bought in December 2011.

Thanks everyone!
